Free printmaking workshop with Jose Vargas - Bath House Cultural Center

Printmaking with Jose Vargas

Free workshop for adults

Saturday, June 10, 2023 - 1-3 PM

In this workshop, participants will engage in two types of printmaking techniques: Silkscreen printing (Estar Wares, 2023) and block printing (TX UFO, 2023). The Bath House is pleased to present this workshop with original prints by Jose Vargas that students take home after class. Participants will be hands on in the inking and printing process, please dress accordingly. Class is limited to 12 students. Registration is required.

About Jose Vargas

Jose Vargas has been curating art exhibitions for over thirty years in Dallas. Some of the most popular exhibitions that he has curated include the annual El Corazón and La Virgen de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Guadalupe) shows. Other projects that he has curated or co-curated include the Day of the Dead and Frida Kahlo exhibitions.

In addition to his curatorial work, Vargas is an active visual artist who works with art photography, prints, painting, and mixed media. Since 1992, he has participated in over 170 exhibitions in multiple art venues.

As an artist and curator, Vargas has collaborated with numerous art organizations. Recently, he started an art exchange program with La Galería de la Misión de Senecú, an art gallery and museum in El Paso, Texas.

Vargas served as the Gallery Coordinator at the Ice House Cultural Center in Oak Cliff. The center closed in 2009. Presently, he provides gallery assistance at the Bath House Cultural Center and the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas, Texas.
