City to hold public forum on Bond Projects on April 25

KILLEEN, Texas (April 12, 2024) - The City of Killeen will hold a public forum on bond projects on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall (101 North College Street).

The purpose of this open forum is to receive citizen feedback and input on potential bond projects. The city will provide results again from the March 2023 survey, and wants to hear the public's ideas for projects, as well as have an open discussion and answer questions.

In March 2023, the City held a special City Council Workshop in which it discussed General Obligation Bonds and Certificate of Obligation Bonds, after asking the community to complete a survey from Jan. 17 - March 17, 2023 to gather the public's input concerning the city putting bonds on a future election. We received more than 100 responses and the results and all bond information are on our website at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Bond.

*A GO Bondis issued by local governments to finance infrastructure projects and is payable from the local issuer's property taxes and requires voter approval.

*A CO Bonddoes not require voter approval and is backed by the full faith and credit of the City (property tax pledge). These can also have a dual pledge of property taxes and a specific City revenue source.
