Student Photo Exhibit at HCAD Showcases Wide Array of Photography

Located in the Mostoller Reading Room at the Hillier College of Architecture and Design's Litman Library, the exhibit of People, Places, Food and Flowers Making Photographs 2022 can be viewed. It's scheduled to run through September.

The exhibit is a collection of student photography that's split into six categories: food, architecture, animals, flowers, products and people. This exhibit was the result of a spring class professor Goldman taught, AD 340 Photography and Imaging.

Goldman is the founding director of the School of Art + Design at NJIT. Goldman has achieved over 600 citations or awards in national and international competitions for more than 120 photographs.

"This represents a variety of the best work produced by the 16 students in the class. I love teaching and I love photography. So this class allowed me to enjoy two of the activities I like best," said Goldman.

Among the students who participated in this class is Fatima Zahra '22, who last year won Best Interior Design Project in the NJIT Design Showcase. Zahra's winning project involved designing a space that explores a new way for people to circulate and experience Dior.

Included in the exhibition are self-portraits, photos taken at New York City's Grand Central Station and photos of well-adorned food plates that will make you want to have strawberries or french toast after leaving the room.

"I'm not sure what people get out of seeing my students' photographs or seeing mine. All we can do is put out work that is meaningful and hope that this opens a path for viewers/visitors to see people, places, and things that they did not fully see before," he added. "The photographs focus the viewers' attention of different aspects of our world based, in part, on the particular vision of the individual photographer."
