Public Invited to Attend Interviews and Provide Comment on Finalists for Troy City Manager Position

Troy, MI - The Troy City Council has selected two finalists for its City Manager search and has scheduled final interviews for Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 9:00 am. Community members are welcome to attend the public interviews at Troy City Hall, 500 W Big Beaver Road; or watch the interviews live at https://troymi.gov/community/government/citycouncil/council_meeting_webcast.php;
or watch a recording of the interviews at https://www.youtube.com/@TroyMichiganGov

Shortly after the current City Manager announced his retirement date of May 31, 2024, the Troy City Council engaged a national search firm. After a thorough review of the applicant pool, the Troy City Council has selected two internal candidates for final interview (listed in alphabetical order):

  • Kurt Bovensiep - Public Works Director, City of Troy
  • Robert J. Bruner - Deputy City Manager, City of Troy

The City recognizes and appreciates the individual professional qualifications of the more than 70 individuals who applied for the position. The City is also proud that two internal candidates have been found to most closely meet the needs of the City of Troy.

The City will open a portal for community members to provide comments regarding the City Manager candidates. The portal, which will be accessible through the City's website, will open on March 20, 2024 and the City will receive comments until 12:00 noon on Monday, April 8, 2024. Community members are encouraged to watch the April 6th interviews prior to providing comments through the portal. All comments will be provided to City Council members in advance of their regularly scheduled meeting of April 8, 2024, 7:30 pm.

During the April 8th meeting it is expected that City Council will consider selection of a preferred candidate for City Manager.

All interviews and meetings are open to the public and community members are welcome to attend.
