Petroperú delivers equipment to Talara firefighters

Petroperú delivered a significant supply of self-contained breathing equipment (EPRA) to the Talara Fire Company No. 67, with the objective of guaranteeing that its members have the necessary implements to carry out their work with maximum safety and efficiently for the benefit of the community.

There are a total of 10 pieces of equipment, including fire safety masks, spare cylinders, breathing air bottles and harnesses, among other devices; conforms to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements.

It should be noted that the equipment donated has been designed to work in atmospheres with reduced levels of oxygen or in the presence of toxic gases. The delivery includes training for the 40 members of the Fire Company, and consists of courses on handling injuries with chemicals, first aid and operation for fire vehicles.

This delivery is executed in line with Petroperú's Social Management Policy and the Community Relations Plan (PRC) of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), for the benefit of more than 40 volunteer firefighters. Which provide a permanent support service, from the Santa Lucía township to the Máncora district, attending to fires, gas leaks, vehicle rescues, among other events.

Personal protective equipment

The state oil company plans to deliver, by the first quarter of next year, 25 personal protective equipment (PPE) for structural fires, consisting of: pants, jackets, helmets, hoods, pairs of gloves and boots that meet the requirements and specifications necessary.

This delivery will guarantee thermal and safety protection against contact with flames, cuts and abrasions, common events in their firefighting work, by replacing the equipment with which they currently have which is 16 years old, having exceeded its useful life.
