Prague: Magna Grecia’s Orchestra in concert

On 6 January 2024, the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, organised the Epiphany's Gala Concert performed by the Magna Grecia's Orchestra at Rudolfinum in Prague. Accompanying the piano soloists Sergio Marchegiani and Marco Schiavo and the violin soloists Aiman Mussakhajayeva and Gernot Winischhofer was the orchestra conducted by Maestro Charles Olivieri Munroe. Among the compositions played at the concert were the Overture of L'italiana in Algeri by Gioachino Rossini, the Concerto for Piano 4 Hands and Orchestra by Leopold Koželuh, the Concerto for two violins and orchestra in D minor BWV 1043 by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Symphony No. 8 in F Major Op. 93 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Italian Ambassador in the Czech Republic, Mauro Marsili, also attended the event, which will be replicated at the House of Culture in Milovice, in central Bohemia.

Founded in Italy in 1993, the Magna Grecia's Orchestra has experienced vivid artistic growth over the years to become a centre of attraction for Italian and international musicians, also thanks to collaborations with prestigious Maestros and soloists such as Renato Bruson, Aldo Ciccolini, Uto Ughi, Andrej Gavrilov, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Raina Kabaivanska, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Amii Stewart, Milva, Gino Paoli and Vinicio Capossela.
