Brazil, Undersecretary Tripodi concludes mission with speech at UNHCR and visit to the Italian Cultural Institute in São Paulo

The Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, concluded the mission to São Paulo with the participation, at UNHCR's invitation, in the "Operation Welcome" seminar, a programme of the Brazilian government aimed at managing the migratory crisis from Venezuela, to which the Italian NGO AVSI is making a leading contribution.

In congratulating the heads of the NGO, Tripodi stressed Italy's effective role in the field of cooperation. In particular, in support of UNHCR's activities in Latin America, with resources amounting to EUR 8.9 million from 2020, of which EUR 4.5 million for projects in Brazil, Colombia and Peru.

Accompanied by Ambassador Alessandro Cortese and the Consul General in São Paulo Domenico Fornara, the Undersecretary then visited the exhibition "Forme e Colori dell'Italia preromana, Canosa di Puglia", hosted by the local Italian Cultural Institute, whose success in terms of attendance confirmed the great potential of the demand for Italian culture in Brazil, even when the offer deals with themes less known to the general public overseas.
