Finalists selected for dean of Graduate Studies

University of New Mexico Provost James Holloway has invited two finalists, Jesse Aleman and Maria Lane, to campus for the position of dean, Graduate Studies. Each candidate will meet with faculty, staff, students, and the community during their visit.

Each candidate will hold a presentation, open to all as scheduled below:

Jesse Aleman

Jesse Aleman is a professor of English at The University of New Mexico. He previously served as interim dean of Graduate Studies at UNM from in 2023, as acting dean of Graduate Studies in 2022, and as associate dean of Graduate Studies from 2019-2022. He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Kansas.

Campus Visit Date - Monday, April 29; Open presentation - 1:30 p.m. in SUB Room Lobo A

Maria Lane

Maria Lane is a professor of Geography and interim dean of Graduate Studies at The University of New Mexico. She previously served as department chair of Geography & Environmental Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Texas at Austin.

Campus Visit Date: Tuesday, April 30; Open presentation - 1:30 p.m. in SUB Room Lobo A
