Russian peacekeepers have committed 400 hectares of the territory of the Mardakert district of Nagorno-Karabakh for mine clearance

The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have started clearing explosive ordnance from the territory of the settlement of Mardakert, Mardakert district in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Every day, near the demarcation line in the Mardakert district, Russian peacekeepers carry out work to search for unexploded ordnance, shells, shots and mines. The military personnel of the humanitarian demining unit perform tasks to clean up settlements and nearby territories intended for agricultural land and livestock grazing.

In total, since November 23, 2020, engineering and sapper groups of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have cleared 2,322.1 hectares of territory, 683 km of roads, 1,937 buildings from unexploded ordnance, 26,078 explosive objects have been found and neutralized.

To monitor the ceasefire and military operations, a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is being deployed in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 (Moscow time) on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.
