INDems Statement on Rokita-Speedy Political Press Conference Paid by Taxpayers

INDIANAPOLIS - Just days before the primary election, Attorney General Todd Rokita used his official office to hold a press conference with Mike Speedy - one of several candidates vying for the 6th District Republican nomination on Tuesday.

The timing of the Rokita-Speedy press conference raises questions about the Attorney General's use of taxpayer resources for political purposes.

"Todd Rokita has been one of the loudest Republicans when it comes to baseless claims of election interference in the 2020 presidential election. He's suggested the election was "stolen" from Donald Trump without any proof. Yet, here he is using taxpayer dollars to amplify a political ally days before the primary," said Indiana Democratic Party Spokesperson Sam Barloga.

"Rokita owes Hoosiers an apology for this obvious political stunt. Whether it's attacking medical professionals like Dr. Caitlin Bernard or using his office for political games, Rokita's tenure has been an embarrassment to Indiana. Hoosiers can replace him with a Democratic Attorney General who will respect women's rights, and focus on protecting taxpayers."
