Recap of Fairfield City Council meeting on February 7, 2023

At the City Council meeting on February 7, 2023, Black History Month was celebrated. First, Fairfield Poet Laureate Suzanne Bruce read her poignant poem "Unyielding Tenacity." Vice Mayor Pam Bertani presented a proclamation honoring Black History Month to President and CEO Tamuri Richardson of the Solano Black Chamber of Commerce. It was a special night as President Richardson brought along her entire Board of Directors: Chairman of the Board Charles H. Lee, Jr., Treasurer Toni E. Mallory, Parliamentarian Jerome Childs, Vice President Sonja Rockwell-Jackson, and Members Dr. W. Alan Dixon Sr., Garrett Toles, Terry Lenoir, Aisha Gutierrez, and Diane Johnson. Ms. Richardson stated, "We do not perform our work in silos; it takes the entire team. And I'm so proud of this team!" Mayor Cat Moy presented a proclamation recognizing National Cancer Prevention Month to Founder and Executive Director Donna Quintero of Pink Lemonade, a cancer non-profit in Vacaville. She and her husband Jason run the nonprofit organization together and offer love, hope, faith, and strength to cancer patients. They provide no cost comfort services to cancer patients and their families in our community to help make life a little sweet during a difficult time. City Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m. at Council Chamber at City Hall, 1000 Webster Street. They do not meeting the first meeting in January and August. Meetings are also streamed live at fairfield.ca.gov/live or available on YouTube or Channel 26.
