Keep Douglas Beautiful Needs Volunteers for Great American Cleanup

The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee and the City of Douglas would like to invite citizens to volunteer to help clean up city streets by picking up litter and other debris during the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Volunteers are needed and this is a great opportunity for clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals to roll up their sleeves and earn community service hours by making Douglas beautiful.

Great American Cleanup participants should arrive at City Hall (302 S. Madison Avenue) between 8:45AM and 9:00AM for registration. Groups will journey to the following streets as identified by the yearly Litter Index: E. Sellers Street, N. College Avenue, W. Peachtree Street, and N. Grady Avenue. Cleanup will take place at 9:00 AM and last until 12:00 PM.

Keep America Beautiful's website states that the Great American Cleanup® has over 300,000 volunteers and participants every year, who work to bring over $20 million in measurable benefits to thousands of participating communities. In 2023, Keep America Beautiful celebrated the 25th Annual Great American Cleanup, with affiliates and participating organizations from all over the country coming together to clean and beautify their communities. They removed over 10 million pounds of litter and debris, cleaned and improved 787,966 acres of parks, public lands, playgrounds, and trails, planted 6,257 trees and more than 65 thousand plants, flowers, shrubs, and bulbs, and accomplished much more!
