Winter opening hours for public toilets

We're keeping most of our public toilets open throughout winter.

This includes Stanmer Village and Queens Park which were closed over winter last year.

Winter opening hours for public toilets across the city begin from 1 October.

Most of the city's public toilets will open from 8am to 4pm, except for some of our busier sites.

The toilets at Shelter Hall, Colonnade, West Pier Arches and Kings Road Playground will open later from 8am until 6pm.

To check public toilet opening times, visit our list of public toilets in Brighton & Hove webpage.

Temporary winter closures

Like in previous years, we're closing 4 of our sites over winter, including Daltons, Greenleas, Hollingbury Park and Black Rock. They will remain closed until spring next year.

The toilets at Royal Pavilion Gardens and The Level will remain closed while we consider options for their reopening.

However, from 3 October, members of the public can use the toilets in the foyer of Brighton Dome. They're open 9.45am to 5.15pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

Vandalism at Queens Park

Due to significant vandalism, we've had to unfortunately close a cubicle at Queens Park.

The cubicle will remain closed until while we assess and fix the damage and we'll reopen as soon as we can.

This incident comes only one month after the other cubicle at Queens Park was also vandalised. This cubicle has since reopened and can be used in the meantime.

We encourage residents with information about the vandalism at Queens Park, or any problems with public toilets around the city, to report using our online form.

Keeping facilities open

Councillor Tim Rowkins, Chair of the City Environment, South Downs and The Sea Committee, said: "We're keeping most of our public toilets open throughout winter and as usual, moving into winter opening hours so we can keep as many facilities open as possible.

"Public toilets at Greenleas and Black Rock have some ongoing maintenance issues that we're going to work on over winter to reopen next spring.

"We're determined to get the toilets at The Level and Royal Pavilion Gardens open as soon as possible and are currently working on plans to make this happen.

"It's incredibly disheartening to see the violent criminal damage at Queens Park, just one month since the other cubicle was also vandalised. We've asked our maintenance team to prioritise the repair and hope to reopen the cubicle shortly.

"We'd ask anybody that has information about the vandalism at Queens Park to contact us so that we can pass it on to the police."
