USDA:

Dear USDA Employees:

Each fall, we have the opportunity to join together in support of the Combined Federal Campaign which promotes making a difference in our communities, our nation, and around the world. The CFC is an employee-focused, effective way to assist others through financial donations or volunteering your time. Since the establishment of the Combined Federal Campaign by President Kennedy in 1961, the Federal community has come together to raise nearly $8.7 billion for local, national, and international charities.

The CFC's online giving system opened on Sept. 1. USDA's CFC goal for 2023 is $550,000. The online giving system is a great way to give and help us achieve our goal-it is safe, saves paper, and makes it easy to renew your pledge each year with just a few clicks. The CFC also offers a Mobile Giving App for those who want to use their phone to give. Paper pledge forms are available to print, complete, and send to the pledge processing center. You can even text-to-donate or scan the QR code.

The CFC Cause of the Week is nutrition. This is especially meaningful to USDA as it embodies the work of the Food and Nutrition Service. Each donation can bring positive change, such as providing children with food security and build healthy dietary habits. Over the course of the campaign, we will highlight other causes. In addition to nutrition, your donations may provide access to emergency housing and shelter, nutritious meals and medical aid for those in need, support relief and recovery efforts in the wake of natural disasters, educational support and much more.

Be on the lookout for other ways to give back this year-whether it's through donating, volunteering, engaging at events, or sharing your story. GIVE HAPPY today at GiveCFC.org. If you are new to the CFC, give it a try-just $5 per pay period can make a big difference.

If you have donated in the past, thank you. And thank you to those of you this year who choose to donate through payroll deductions, volunteering, engaging at CFC events, or just sharing your stories. I also want to thank our USDA Campaign Manager, Christine Knecht and Rural Development for serving as our lead agency this year. I look forward to changing the world with you through the 2023 CFC. Together, we can make a lasting difference for communities and people in need across the country.

Sincerely,

Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack
Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small
