Stockland Providence celebrates its first 10 years

Stockland Providence has this month celebrated its first decade with a big community lunch hosted by celebrity chef Miguel Maestre at its sales and community hub.

The masterplanned community located in the Ripley Valley, 43 kilometres southwest of Brisbane's CBD, is currently home to around 4,000 people, and this is expected to grow to around 20,000 once the community is complete.

The birthday lunch was attended by around 65 people, including local politicians Jennifer Howard MP, Ipswich City Council Mayor Teresa Harding and recently appointed Division 1 Councillor Pye Augustine, community members including local school principals, the previous owners of Providence Okeland Communities, First Nations representatives and some of the first homeowners.

Stockland Project Director David Franklin said it was great to celebrate the 10-year milestone.

"Our vision at Stockland is to be the leading creator and curator of connected communities, and this is underpinned by our purpose - a better way to live. Over the past 10 years at Providence, we have helped more Australians achieve the dream of home ownership, providing a range of diverse and affordable housing options that cater to first homebuyers through to those downsizing and looking to retire," Mr Franklin said.

"Stockland Providence is surrounded by good schools, shops, health services, parks, and transport links, with plans underway to continue building the infrastructure needed to cater to the growing community, including the future town centre.

"We want to thank the community for making Providence what it is today. We look forward to the next decade and beyond, where we will continue to build on our legacy, creating places and spaces full of energy, soul, and life," Mr Franklin added.

As part of the celebrations, Stockland recognised one of community's earliest homeowners, Kelsey Hambleton and her husband, who live on one of Providence's first streets, Harmony Crescent, with their three children.

Mrs Hambleton is also the newly appointed Centre Manager for the much-anticipated Impressions Early Education due to open in the community in the coming months.

"We bought in Providence for its location, close to both Ipswich and the city with access to public transport as well as a country atmosphere and a community focus," Mrs Hambleton said.

"One of my earliest memories of Providence was a great social get together with all of the residents where, by the end of it, I knew everyone's name and there was this lovely country feel."

Ms Hambleton said the range of community events held in Providence, including Christmas parties, markets and movie nights, add to the vibrancy of the community.

"I started 'Providence does Halloween' as a fun and safe event for our local children to enjoy Halloween - the masterplanned community is perfect for it and I have now been running the event in conjunction with Stockland for the last couple of years.

"If you're thinking about moving into a masterplanned community, my advice is to do it. Providence has lovely areas for exercise, play and to socialise, and residents are a close community with a true neighbourhood feel," Mrs Hambleton added.

Stockland acquired Providence from Okeland Communities in 2021.
