Norton Rose Fulbright bolsters arbitration depth in the US with three additions

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced that counsel Timothy Tyler and senior associate Taylor LeMay have joined the firm's international arbitration practice in its Houston office. These additions follow the recent arrival of senior counsel Courtney Hikawa in Washington, DC.

The firm's leading international arbitration practice now boasts more than 120 lawyers worldwide, including more than 30 partners. The global arbitration team has been further strengthened with notable arrivals around the world over the past few months, including special counsel Mevelyn Ong in Melbourne and partners Kent Phillips in Singapore and Nick Sharratt in Dubai, who serves as the firm's Head of Dispute Resolution in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Hikawa focuses on international dispute settlement, with an emphasis on investor-state arbitration. She represents both cross-border investors and respondent governments in proceedings before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and its Additional Facility as well as in arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. She is experienced in arbitrations under investment treaties, government contracts and free trade agreements.

Tyler practices international commercial arbitration, investor-state arbitration under treaties and state contracts and associated US litigation. He has been counsel in arbitrations under all major rules, in the major seats, under numerous applicable laws. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law, Tyler has taught international commercial arbitration since 2005 and investor-state arbitration since 2010. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Vice President of the Houston International Arbitration Club.

LeMay represents clients in complex cross-border disputes, including international arbitration, the enforcement of arbitration clauses and awards and complex commercial litigation in US federal and state courts. His experience includes advising foreign and domestic entities on cross-border contract and business tort disputes, with an emphasis on high-value cases in Europe and the Middle East in the construction, engineering, energy and transportation sectors.

Hikawa received her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, her master's degree from the University of Minnesota and her bachelor's degree from Oberlin College. Both Tyler and LeMay are graduates of the University of Texas School of Law. Tyler earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University, and LeMay received his from Louisiana State University.

Hikawa is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Illinois, Tyler is admitted to practice in New York and Texas, and Lemay is admitted to practice in Texas.
