Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023: JYU places well in international university ranking

JYU's research in the discipline of Library & Information Science ranked first among the Finnish universities and was placed 38 in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published on Friday 27 October 2023.

In the ranking, Library & Information Science is part of the scientific discipline of Social Sciences. This includes a group of disciplines of social sciences at the University of Jyväskylä.

The University of Jyväskylä's Communication was placed in between 76-100. Education was ranked between 101-150.

Altogether, 11 branches of science from JYU were included in global top 500: Mathematics ranked 151-200, Biology, Ecology, Psychology, and Sport (Sport included in the Hospitality and Tourism Management) ranked 201-300. Chemistry ranked 301, Physics and Management 401-500.

The ranking included over 5,000 universities. It considered, for example, the quality of research, international cooperation, publications in top journals, and significant academic awards.
