THE House of Representatives on Monday late afternoon unanimously adopted a resolution thanking President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. for his crucial support to the chamber.

House Resolution (HR) No. 1436 expresses the chamber's "profound gratitude and appreciation" to the President "for his invaluable support to the unity and integrity of this institution towards the realization of a common legislative agenda for a strong and a prosperous nation."

The measure is principally authored by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr., Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre.

The other authors of HR No. 1436 are Representatives Roberto V. Puno, Robert Ace S. Barbers, Michael John R. Duavit, Antonio T. Albano, Brian Raymund S. Yamsuan, Johnny Ty Pimentel, Albert S.Garcia, Tobias Reynald M. Tiangco, Jose S. Aquino II, Elizaldy S. Co, Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte Jr., and Eleandro Jesus Madrona.

The authors said since taking office on June 30, 2022, President Marcos "has unequivocally manifested his vision of a strong and prosperous nation through unity and inclusivity, stressing that his administration is fully committed to implementing sound and vital changes to the nation's policies to achieve economic recovery and improve the quality of life of the Filipinos."

They said the legislature, principally the House of Representatives, which is tasked by the Constitution to pass laws in response to the ever-changing needs of the country, "remains one with the President in leading the Philippines to a brighter tomorrow."

"Through the unfailing guidance and decisive leadership of President Marcos, the House of Representatives triumphantly accomplished its sworn duty to enact vital legislative measures and pursue the President's socio-economic agenda and SONA priority measures, and instituted the needed reforms to boost the economy, create more jobs and livelihood opportunities, and improve the living conditions of the Filipinos," they said.

They added that the House has already achieved unprecedented accomplishments halfway through its term, particularly in upholding the principles of integrity, transparency and accountable governance, pursuing impressive economic growth, and lifting Filipinos from poverty.

Speaker Romualdez and his colleagues pointed out that the solidarity and commendable working relationship of the House with President Marcos "re-established public trust, improved public image, and reinvigorated domestic and international confidence in the House of Representatives, resulting in a renewed sense of passion and dedication not only among the members, but the personnel as well."

"The House of Representatives recognizes President Marcos's esteemed ability to steer and inspire this august chamber to move forward as a dynamic, efficient, and focused government arm upon which the entire Filipino nation rests its trust, hopes, and aspirations," they stressed.

Conscious of the need for other branches of government to work together to fulfill their respective constitutional mandates, the House, through the resolution, called on all institutions "to continue showing their unequivocal support to His Excellency's leadership, programs and directives so that, finally, the Philippines shall rise again."

The House adopted the resolution two days before President Marcos is scheduled to attend the 30th Leaders' Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in San Francisco, California. (END)
