The EU's Foreign Affairs Council was attended today, in Luxembourg, by the ministers responsible for Foreign Affairs and Defence. After holding, via videoconference, an informal exchange of views with their Ukrainian counterparts, the ministers attending the FAC deliberated on Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The heads of Foreign Affairs then discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the evolution of the situation on the ground and throughout the region. Finally, the Council addressed the evolution of the armed conflict in Sudan, with the presence at the meeting of the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sudan.
After the FAC, Minister Albares spoke at the first meeting of the EU-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) High Level Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation. The holding of this Forum was agreed during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the objective of continuing to consolidate the strategic partnership between the two organisations. At today's meeting in Luxembourg, the main topic of debate was security in the Middle East.
