River Mussels of Indiana, Falls of the Ohio State Park

Freshwater Mussels are one of Indiana's most imperiled groups of animals. Over half of Indiana's 79 species are now considered extirpated or listed as a Species of Greatest Conservation Need. Overharvest, habitat alteration/degradation, water quality issues, and impacts by non-native species have all contributed to their decline. Brant Fisher, with the Division of Fish & Wildlife will explore their interesting biology, unique life history strategies, and the current restoration activities for freshwater mussels in Indiana.
