NIFA Invests Over $6M in Commodity Board Research Topics (AFRI A1811)

NIFA and various commodity boards seek to co-fund research projects that will improve crop production efficiency and advance solutions to critically important problems in U.S. agriculture, thereby increasing farmer profitability and sustainability. These grants are part of NIFA's Agriculture and Food Research Initiative. In Fiscal Year 2023, boards that submitted topics for co-funding support included the California Walnut Commission, Cotton Board, Kansas Wheat Commission, National Peanut Board, United Soybean Board, and the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council. This arrangement strengthens relationships between NIFA and commodity groups, which also connect with stakeholder groups relevant to NIFA (for example, growers, Congress, etc.). These grants are part of NIFA's Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI A1811).
