Officers Arrest Man, Recover Child Following Amber Alert

Police arrested a 26-year-old man Thursday evening after he attacked an acquaintance and drove away with her child near Mt. Baker.

Around 7:30 PM, police learned a man had attacked a woman near 33^rd Avenue South and South Byron Street, and driven away with an infant in his car.

Officers found the woman nearby. She had facial injuries and told officers she had been in a car with the man, who she knows, when he assaulted her. The woman was able to escape from the car, but the suspect drove away with her child.

Officers issued an Amber Alert for the woman's child and began searching for the suspect. Police found him at his home a short time later with the child, who was unharmed.

Police booked the 26-year-old suspect into the King County Jail for kidnapping and assault.
