Gooden and Rubio Reintroduce the SECURE Flights Act

WASHINGTON - On Wednesday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas), joined by Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) and several House GOP lawmakers, announced the reintroduction of the Strengthening Enforcement to Curtail Unlawful, Risky Entrance to (SECURE) Flights Act. This legislation would prevent the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) from allowing an illegal immigrant's arrest warrant to serve as identification when boarding a commercial flight.

Rep. Lance Gooden said,"The Biden Administration continues to put our national security and American families at risk by allowing an arrest warrant to serve as identification in airports. Undocumented migrants with only an arrest warrant as identification should be brought before a judge, not allowed to board a plane to the American community of their choice."

Congressman Gooden has been a leader on this issue since discovering unknown migrants are permitted to fly without proper identification. In response to a previous letter, TSA confirmed their official policy is to allow an illegal migrant's arrest warrant to serve as identification.

The SECURE Flights Act would require a non-citizen who does not have identification to submit biometric information and undergo enhanced security screening. Additionally, the bill requires TSA to go through the official rulemaking process to allow additional forms of identification for non-citizens.
