Gerben Smit appointed as General Director of Radboud Services

Gerben Smit is currently Director of Campus & Facilities. Prior to this, he occupied various management positions at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, and Arcadis, among others. Gerben has demonstrated his ability to take a structured approach to managing complex and large-scale projects, looking at them from the perspective of students, employees, and campus visitors. Among other things, he supervised the merger of the UVB (university department of property management), facilities & services and the Radboud Sports Centre in the Campus & Facilities division. He also oversaw the development of the campus plan and harmonised various processes, such as cleaning and the provision of study workspaces. In the context of UNL, he played an important role in structuring and harmonising integral safety for all Dutch universities.

Gerben characterises himself as a leader with an eye for people, teams, and the greater good of the University. With his experience and background, as Director of Radboud Services, he will work with the faculties to further strengthen professional services to support teaching, research, and impact across the University.
