Prague bourse grows mildly amidst weak demand

Prague, April 18 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) strengthened today, its headline PX index adding 0.18 percent to 1,550.34 points, according to data from the bourse's website.

Activity on the market was relatively weak today. "The volume traded was only about 80 percent of the long-term average," said Komercni banka economist Bohumil Trampota.

Six of the 11 titles influencing the value of the PX index closed in the black. Two other issues, Moneta Money Bank and drone maker Primoco UAV SE, were flat.

Beverage maker Kofola was the most successful among blue chips, its shares rising by 1.49 percent to Kc273 apiece. Austrian banking group Erste followed, gaining 1.33 percent to close at Kc1,069.50 per share.

A more significant increase in the stock index was prevented by power utility CEZ, among others. Its shares weakened by 0.68 percent to Kc874 apiece.

Bank Komercni banka and metallurgical company Gevorkyan also posted losses.
