San Marcos Creek Project | April 29

Spring Fling recap

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Creek booth during the Spring Fling earlier this month. We were excited to discuss the project with all of you. For those of you we couldn't connect with, we have provided some answers to the frequently asked questions we received at the event below.

When will the traffic signals in the Creek area be removed from flashing red?

The traffic signals remain in flashing red operation due to a delay in the manufacture and shipping of the necessary hardware for proper signal operation. Finishing work on the signals is a top priority, and we appreciate everyone's patience. The signals will be placed into standard operation upon receipt and installation of the traffic signal hardware.

Please remember to treat flashing red signals as stop signs.

Since all approaches to the intersection have flashing red traffic signals, the intersection functions as an all-way stop intersection. All vehicles shall come to a complete stop before the white limit line and yield to pedestrians crossing the roadway. The vehicle that arrives at the intersection first has the right of way to proceed after coming to a complete stop and after allowing pedestrian movements. The City is coordinating with the Sheriff's Department to ensure the above rules are appropriately enforced.

When will the Craven equipment be completed?

The improvements along Craven Road are outside of the boundaries for the Creek project. Craven Road improvements are being completed by Shea Homes, a private developer. The fitness equipment at the top of Craven Road is now available for use by the public.

Where can I report potholes or other needed infrastructure matters?

The best way to submit these requests is to create a ticket for the City's maintenance team via the app or by using this link.

We encourage you to reach out to the Creek project team if you have any questions by phone at 877-SMCREEK or 877-762-7335 or by email at [email protected].
