The Delegation from Indonesia visited ROSATOM Enterprises

From May 23 to 26, 2023, representatives of Indonesia visited Russia to get acquainted with ROSATOM's competencies in the construction of large- and small-scale nuclear power plants and to discuss the perspectives of the bilateral cooperation in the nuclear sphere.
The delegation included Dr. Agus Puji Prasetyono, Co-Chair of the Nuclear Power Development Program Organization (NEPIO), and amb. Yusra Khan, National Energy Council of Indonesia Commissioner for Foreign Energy Policy Relations.
Indonesian delegation visited the Leningrad NPP, where they learned about the features of the Russian NPP project of 3+ generation power units based on VVER technologies. Alexander Belyaev, the chief engineer of the Leningrad-2 NPP, gave a description of the VVER-1200 reactor technology, its passive and active safety systems, and also outlined the role of the NPP in the energy supply and social development of the region.
At the Baltic Shipyard they got acquainted with the nuclear icebreakers construction process and also listened to a presentation on Rosatom's small scale FNPP projects.
During the visit to the St. Petersburg branch of the Rosatom Technical Academy Yuri Seleznev, the Rector of the Academy, welcomed the Indonesian delegation, and Vadim Titov, the president of the Rusatom International Network, addressed with a welcoming speech. Mr. Titov noted the long-term cooperation with Indonesia in nuclear sphere, as well as the willingness of Rosatom to offer flexible solutions for the energy needs of Indonesia.
Mr. Yusra Khan, in turn, noted: "We are interested in expanding cooperation with Russia to introduce nuclear energy into the energy balance of Indonesia. Our country aims to reduce CO2 emissions, and we see nuclear energy as one of the main elements that would allow us to achieve our goals."

The basis of bilateral cooperation is the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy dated December 1, 2006, and the framework memorandum of understanding between the State Corporation Rosatom and the National Atomic Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN) June 2, 2015.
