USFS to Conduct Aerial Seeding by Helicopter Beginning April 22.

The US Forest Service will be completing aerial seeding within the Tamarack footprint on Forest Service lands beginning 4/22 as part of ongoing wildfire restoration efforts. They are hoping to complete all of the work within one week using helicopters. The areas where seeding will be focused are:

  • West of Turtle Rock, the ridge above Millberry creek
  • Pleasant Valley Road
  • Poor Boy ridge
  • Monitor Pass area - Little Cottonwood canyon and Big Springs area

The operation will seed approximately 4,000 acres total. They will use the USFS heliport on Poor Boy Road and the Alpine County Airport. Please avoid those areas during this time for the safety of the restoration crew and the flight operations. If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact Tim Kellison Sierra Zone Botanist at [email protected] or Clint Celio Alpine County Wildfire Projects Coordinator at [email protected].
