AHN Saint Vincent celebrates Nurses Week 2024

A week-long series of activities designed to celebrate Nurses Week culminated with AHN Saint Vincent Hospital's 2024 Nurses Week Awards on Thursday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the hospital's McGarvey Learning Center.

The week-long celebration included breakfast, a mass, food trucks, a snack cart on the units, prize wheel giveaways, a vendor fair, visits from therapy dogs, and more.

Nurses Week Award winners for 2024 included:

Karissa Walker, for Nursing Education and Professional Development

Caitlin McKinney for Aspiring Clinical Nurse Leader

Brenda Jarema for Legacy Nurse

Maria Patino-Giraldo for Research and Evidence-based Practice

Laurie Fife for Nurse's Nurse

Kayla Heckler for Rising Star

Sara O'Brien for Friend of Nursing

Cameron Trautman for Rookie of the Year

Devin Sharp for Spirit of Nursing

"We are so proud of these extraordinary nurses and their dedication to providing our patients with the highest quality of care, and for advancing the practice of nursing, and how they support one another so consistently," said AHN Saint Vincent CNO, Sallie Piazza, RN. "These awards are our way of recognizing our stand-out nurses during a week dedicated to showing appreciation to all nurses and acknowledging the vital role they all play in patient care."

In addition, several hospital units won Quality Awards for achieving excellent results in quality goals. They include the ICU, CNICU, 8 West, 4 Northwest, 3 North, Pediatrics, and the Saint Vincent Wound Center.
