Times Magazine Wins 2 Ellie Awards

The New York Times Magazine won two National Magazine Awards, known as the Ellies, from the American Society of Magazine Editors, in the categories of Profile Writing and Reporting. The Times also had six finalists.

After her parents were killed in a military operation, Baby L. was taken from her village in Afghanistan and adopted by an American couple despite objections from her family. Rozina's relentless reporting probed into every angle of this disturbing case with empathy and rigor.

"I'm so proud of Jazmine and Rozina; their great editors, Claire Gutierrez and Luke Mitchell; and everyone else at the Magazine who worked on these three stories," said Jake Silverstein, Magazine editor. "It really is a huge accomplishment to win. And a tribute to both individual and collective effort."

Additionally, Adrienne N. Green, a deputy editor of special projects for the Magazine, was named a NEXT Award recipient for journalists under 30.
