Team DES Wears Teal for Sexual Assault Awareness

According to the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, over half of women, 1 in 3 men, and 1 in 2 transgender individuals have experienced contact sexual violence in their lifetime.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Since it was first nationally observed in 2001, the goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence, educate communities on how to prevent it, and bolster prevention efforts throughout the year.

April 2 is the SAAM Day of Action, and in recognition, Team DES is wearing teal to show our support for sexual assault survivors! Teal is the official color of sexual violence prevention and is an acronym for Togetherness, Empowerment, Advocacy and Learning. Please join us in spreading awareness and support using #SAAM2024 on social media!

The DES Sexual Violence Program provides funding to community-based agencies to support survivors' journey to healing and safety. For more information, resources and hotlines, visit https://des.az.gov/sexual-violence-support.
