Project Description:

The applicant proposes to remove 110 linear feet of existing failing steel bulkhead and construct 242 linear feet of new low-sill bulkheading with 5' bulkhead return. The applicant also proposes to dredge a 10' wide area seaward of the low-sill bulkhead and place approximately 30 cubic yards of fill landward of the low-sill bulkhead, and revegetate the area with native wetland vegetation. Also proposed is the replacement of the existing catwalk with a 4' x 18.5' open-grate catwalk. A 10' wide area landward of the tidal wetland boundary is proposed to be established as a non-disturbance non-fertilization buffer with native upland vegetation. The project is located at 1400 Old Harbor Rd, New Suffolk, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, NY. SCTM# 100 - 117 - 5 - 13 & 14.1.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Evaluation using a Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form or other information has concluded that the proposed activity will not impact registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

DEC Commissioner Policy 29, Environmental Justice and Permitting (CP-29)

It has been determined that the proposed action is not subject to CP-29.
