Mayor Broome Announces the Development of City-Parish Chatbot

Baton Rouge, LA - April 17, 2024 - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome would like to express her gratitude to the Metropolitan Council for this evening's approval of a City-Parish chatbot that will allow residents and visitors to ask questions, report issues, and find resources.

The chatbot will be an AI-powered virtual assistant designed with Citibot to provide quick and accurate information about various City-Parish services and resources in Baton Rouge. Users will be able to access the free chatbot by text message or by visiting brla.gov.

"The development of this innovative chatbot marks our efforts to make City-Parish services more accessible and responsive. We are enhancing our communication with citizens and ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently. We are committed to transforming Baton Rouge into a smart community for all, and this chatbot is a key step in that effort," said Mayor Broome.

The first phase of the chatbot will assist with a wide range of queries related to City-Parish services, including information about local events, trash collection schedules, and more. The second phase will allow users to report service requests like road maintenance, missed garbage collection, and drainage.
