Moulton Statement on Antisemitism at Columbia University

Congressman Seth Moulton issued the following response to recent incidents of antisemitism and hate speech at Columbia University and other college campuses.

"As the Jewish community observes Passover, I'm appalled and saddened that the story of the moment is about heightened security warnings and displays of antisemitism at places like Columbia University. As a parent, I can't imagine sending my kids off to school for what's supposed to be the most formative, enriching time of their lives - only to experience the kind of hatred most of us have only read about in history books.

Those who are peacefully advocating for Palestinian rights are being undermined by those choosing violence. We should all use our voices to push for the safety of Palestinians and a better future for Gaza. But in no world is it acceptable for it to be paired with vitriol against our Jewish neighbors.

Columbia's leaders should learn from Harvard's mistakes and get this under control now.

The story of Passover -- one of strength, perseverance, and resilience - is as relevant today as ever. Antisemitism is real and it is pernicious, we must stand together against it."
