Presidential Aide, Chair of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev Patrushev NikolaiAide to the Presidentdiscussed transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad Region with the region's leadership and representatives of federal authorities. The discussion touched upon the development prospects of maritime transport communications in the context of a complex geopolitical and geoeconomic situation.
During the meeting, it was noted that Western countries had taken a course to complicate cargo and passenger transit as much as possible. In this context, additional measures were developed to ensure safe navigation in the Baltic Sea and increase cargo traffic in the interests of the life and economy of the region. Focus was placed on increasing the carrying capacity of the ferry line and developing infrastructure of railway ferry complexes in Baltiysk and Ust-Luga. The construction of a cargo and passenger sea terminal in Pionersky was also discussed, along with state support for maritime transport in the region and matters related to shipbuilding.
In addition, Nikolai Patrushev held a working meeting with the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region. Alexei Besprozvannykh Besprozvannykh AlexeiGovernor of the Kaliningrad Regionreported on the socioeconomic situation in the region and the prospects for developing its industrial potential, including ship repair facilities.
On the same day, Mr Patrushev visited the Yantar shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, where he inspected the progress of investment programmes aimed at upgrading the enterprise and efforts taken to achieve import independence, attracting and retaining young personnel.
Nikolai Patrushev also had a meeting with the command of the Baltic Fleet. The meeting, held at the fleet's headquarters with the participation of Baltic Navy Commander Sergei Lipilin, focused on the military-political situation in the Baltic region, as well as measures aimed at implementing and protecting Russia's national interests in the Baltic Sea and other areas of the World Ocean. Special attention was paid to combat training of the naval forces and troops, as well as its capabilities to ensure the safety of the Russian Federation maritime activities.
