NorthWestern Energy transmission work will mean traffic delays in Mystic Lake area

Butte, Mont. - May 12, 2021 - Campers, hikers, anglers, kayakers, other recreationalists and users of the Mystic Lake area will experience traffic delays along West Rosebud Road.

NorthWestern Energy is rebuilding about 5.3 miles of one of two parallel 50 kV transmission lines from the Mystic Lake Dam powerhouse to the Line Creek substation. The transmission line runs along West Rosebud Road.

The work requires heavy equipment and helicopters. NorthWestern Energy is working with the Custer Gallatin National Forest and other stakeholders to ensure the safety of the public and crews during the project.

Signs will direct traffic throughout the project and flaggers will be present at times for longer delays.

The project will be complete in 2022 when reclamation work will take place.

'This project is replacing poles and lines that are near the end of their useful life,' said NorthWestern Energy Community Relations Manager Lisa Perry. 'The rebuild will enhance reliability for NorthWestern Energy's customers served by this transmission line and it will also harden the infrastructure system in this incredibly special area. We appreciate the patience of those using the area this summer.'

NorthWestern Energy will post updates on the project at www.northwesternenergy.com/mystictransmissionline.
