Deputy Secretary Todman Travels to Puerto Rico to Talk Economic Development and to Speak at LULAC

WASHINGTON - Last week, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman traveled to Puerto Rico to deliver remarks at the 2022 League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Convention and Exposition in San Juan. Todman discussed HUD's commitment to advancing equity through expanding economic opportunities and building capacity in Puerto Rico and in Hispanic and Latino communities more broadly.

As the premier Hispanic convention, the LULAC National Convention draws over 15,000 participants each year including top leaders from the government, business, and the Latino community.

Additionally, Todman and The Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Housing, William Rodríguez Rodríguez toured Renaissance Square, a mixed-use project in Hato Rey

"I was pleased to be able to visit Renaissance Square," said HUD Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman. These new homes and the adjoining grocery store are examples of how HUD supports housing and economic development in Puerto Rico. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to ensuring that the government and people of Puerto Rico have the support and resources necessary for transformative outcomes."

The Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Housing, Rodríguez Rodriguez added, "We were pleased to receive Todman at a key moment in the recovery process that the Island is experiencing. Just a few days ago we reported that about 5,000 Puerto Ricans are being trained through our Workforce Training Program to insert themselves into the local workforce, it's part of an integrated effort to stimulate the economic development of Puerto Rico."
