Dentons Cohen & Grigsby, University of Pittsburgh School of Law Establish Diversity Fellowship Fund

January 24, 2023

Dentons Cohen & Grigsby and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law ("Pitt Law") are partnering to establish the Dentons Cohen & Grigsby Diversity Fellowship Fund (the "Fund").

The Fund - which will make available tuition support for a first-year law student from an underrepresented group, renewable up to two years based on academic merit - also provides recipients with a paid summer associate position at Dentons Cohen & Grigsby in the student's first summer of law school with an opportunity to return for a second summer. The Fund will award financial support to one student in academic year 2023-2024 and an additional student in academic year 2024-2025.

"At Dentons, equity, diversity and inclusion are not just ancillary values. They are core to our business strategy. We believe that broader access to legal education is essential - especially for diverse and underrepresented students," said Christopher B. Carson, President and CEO of Dentons Cohen & Grigsby. "We are proud to support Pitt Law's efforts to develop the next generation of talented and diverse lawyers. We hope the Dentons Cohen & Grigsby Diversity Fellowship Fund will help these impressive students achieve their goals and reach their highest potential."

"Dentons Cohen & Grigsby has been a committed partner to Pitt Law and our region for many years. With this new fellowship, Dentons is investing in maintaining a gifted, diverse, and talented pool of legal professionals who will ensure Pittsburgh and our surrounding communities continue to thrive," said University of Pittsburgh School of Law Dean Amy J. Wildermuth. "In addition to financial support, fellows are considered for a summer associate position at the world's largest global law firm and will be mentored by members of the firm. This special experience will provide Dentons Cohen & Grigsby Diversity Fellows with a strong foundation for the development of their careers and make a big difference to our community."

Dentons participates in other programs and partnerships to attract and support top legal talent from wide-ranging backgrounds, including the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 1L Scholars Program and the Dentons Diversity Scholars Program.
