With a license from TED, the Leadership Programs at Georgia College & State University are bringing TEDx to Georgia College and to Milledgeville. TEDxGeorgiaCollege will be hosted Friday, October 18th, on the campus of Georgia College in downtown Milledgeville.

TEDxGeorgiaCollege will feature eight to ten speakers and performers who will deliver talks on the latest ideas and research, all in the spirit of TED's commitment to "Ideas Worth Spreading." Each talk will be broadcast internationally and shared through TED's global network, showcasing for the international TED community the unique voices, stories, and ideas that make Georgia College special.

"At Georgia College, we are a community of explorers, innovators, and doers," says Dr. Harold Mock, director of leadership programs. "We nourish a passion for inquiry, and we believe that our greatest discoveries are born as we quest for evidence of things unseen."

Mock chairs the Board of Curators, who provide intellectual and editorial leadership for TEDxGeorgiaCollege and work to create a vibrant and event featuring a range of ideas and diversity of speakers. Chelsey Scoggins, assistant director of leadership programs, serves as vice-chair. Additionally, on the board are Kassie Arps, Bachelor of Arts candidate in mass communication; Jacob Carter, program coordinator; Dr. Steve Elliott-Gower, research associate and associate professor of political science; Jane Kidd, Alex Gregory Distinguished Fellow and Leader in Residence; and Dr. Chika Unigwe, assistant professor of English. About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers.
