KEF Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik meets with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida

On May 8, KEF Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik attended the 'Japanese PM Fumio Kishida - Korea Business Roundtable' at Lotte Hotel Seoul.


The participants of the meeting included Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Chey Tae-won, Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) Acting Chairman Kim Byung-joon, Korea International Trade Association (KITA) Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) Chairman Kim Ki-moon, and Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea (FOMEK) Chairman Choi Jin-sik.


Chairman Sohn welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to Korea and said, "Expectations are high for improving Korea-Japan relations as the summit is held for the first time in 12 years and shuttle diplomacy is resumed."

"The international community, including the United States and the EU, is welcoming and supporting Korea and Japan's joint efforts to improve bilateral relations. Korean business community will also strive to strengthen mutual cooperation in various fields such as national security, economy, and culture," Chairman Sohn said.

Chairman Sohn, who is also Korea's Executive Committee Chairman of the Korea-Japan Festival which is the largest private cultural exchange event between two nations held in Seoul and Tokyo every September, added "With active cooperation from Japan, we are expanding bilateral exchange, especially among young generations."

"I think this meeting would be an opportunity to further strengthen our corporate relationship, which is expected to create synergy and bring benefits to both countries," he stressed.
