UK Music Gives Music Students Careers Advice With BIY Futures Talent

14.12.2023: UK Music organised for students of its Music Academic Partnership (MAP) to get careers advice from BIY Future Talent.

BIY Future Talent, run by BIY Talent & People, works with young people to help them kick-start their career in the business side of the music industry, by providing them with truly practical skills and advice on building their career.

The Prove Your Passion Program: How To Get A Job In The Music Business focused on people looking to build a career in the business side of the industry, that covers everything from labels, artist and producer management, publishing, booking agencies, DSP's, digital agencies, PR, marketing and more.

Session one focused on creating and delivering a CV and cover letter, decoding job specs, and managing social media presence.

Session two looked at interviews and offered advice on thinking about your personal brand, the importance of networking, creating opportunities, dealing with feedback, and starting your job.

Session three provided young people with knowledge on the core skills needed for entry level roles in the music industry, including organisation, prioritisation and communication.

UK Music's Director of Education and Skills said:

"It's always wonderful to work with BIY People & Talent. The advice they offer is invaluable to the students in our MAP network as they think about graduating and moving into paid employment in the industry.

"We really value our MAP members' fantastic work and love to programme in workshops, events, and panels that supports this.

"BIY People & Talent are an exemplar in the music-careers space and a vital source of info and opportunities for all interested in careers in the industry."
