A Sudanese-born man has been charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa mandated curfew and maintaining a monitoring device.
The AFP arrested and charged the man, 45, on Monday 29 April 2024, after locating him in Melbourne. He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on the same day and was granted bail.
It is alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on three occasions between 20 April 2024 and 29 April 2024 by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations and maintain his monitoring device.

These offences each carry a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
The man is expected to return to the same court on 22 May, 2024.
