Juan Manuel González Bernal Named 'Lawyer of the Year 2024' in Public Procurement Law in Mexico

MEXICO CITY - Jan. 3, 2024 - Juan Manuel González Bernal, founding shareholder and co-managing shareholder of global law firm Greenberg Traurig's Mexico City office, was recognized as "Lawyer of the Year 2024" in Public Procurement Law as part of Best Lawyers' "Best Lawyers in Mexico" 2024 guide.

González Bernal, who also serves as co-chair of the Global Infrastructure Practice, has more than 30 years of experience handling complex transactions representing sponsors, developers, private equity and debt funds, and creditors in virtually all infrastructure and energy sectors, including toll roads, airports, transportation, telecommunications, water, oil, and gas facilities.

"This recognition is due to the teamwork and the integrated approach that Greenberg Traurig's Project Finance and Infrastructure Practice - led by Jose Antonio Butrón and Gabriela Palomino - offers in Mexico to our clients, and confirms the knowledge, commitment, and dedication of each practice sub-sector leaders: Edgar Olvera (Telecommunications), Rodrigo Orozco (Public Financing), Pedro Reséndez and Erick Hernández Gallego (Energy, Oil & Gas), Fernando Orrantia (Maritime Ports), and Miguel Yturbe and Luis Cortés Panameño (Education and Health)," González Bernal said. "We thank Best Lawyers and reiterate our commitment to our clients in meeting their objectives."

The Attorney of the Year recognition is presented to a single lawyer in each practice area and geographic region. Inclusion in the guide is based on peer reviews provided by leading attorneys about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area, according to the Best Lawyers website.

In addition, 34 lawyers across 28 practices in the Mexico office were listed in the Best Lawyers "Best Lawyers in Mexico" 2024 guide and "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Mexico" in 2024. More information here.
