Larson: We Can’t Reward Republican Games

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the Biden-McCarthy debt limit agreement:

"I applaud President Biden for forging a path forward to avoid a catastrophic default and will continue to work with him to fight back against Republican proposed cuts to Social Security, Medicare and veteran's benefits, and their continued assault on the poor," said Larson.

"We would never let the country default, but by the same token, the Republicans are trying to normalize their reckless crisis as regular order. Their attempt to normalize taking our economy hostage to cut important programs deserved a "no" vote. We cannot normalize this process, including denying 700,000 older adults their food assistance," Larson concluded.
