Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. will ship low-level radioactive waste stored at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station to Japan Nuclear Fuel Ltd.'s Rokkasho-Mura Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center, located in Aomori Prefecture.
Chubu Electric plans to transport the low-level radioactive waste overland, from the power station to the Company's private quay at the Port of Omaezaki, as outlined below.

From the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station to Chubu Electric's private quay at the Port of Omaezaki
Transport containers: 150 (each containing eight drums)

At the Waste Volume Reduction Facility (No. 2 building) on the power station premises, two transport containers each holding eight drums will be loaded onto one truck. The two trucks will form a formation (Note) and transport the containers to the Company's dedicated quay at Omaezaki Port. Then, from Omaezaki Port to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center of Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited, the low activity waste will be transported by the dedicated low-level radioactive transport ship, Seiei Maru, and trucks.
(Note) Final transport will be one truck per formation.

Chubu Electric Power ships its low-level radioactive waste to Japan Nuclear Fuel's Rokkasho-Mura Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center in Aomori Prefecture under the terms of an agreement between the two companies on disposal of low-level radioactive waste.
The low-level radioactive waste included in this shipment consists of unburnable solid wastes, put in drums, which are then filled with mortar to solidify the contents.

These transport containers have been designed pursuant to applicable laws and regulations and have passed safety inspections performed by the Nippon Kaiji Kentei Kyokai.
These transport containers are owned by Nuclear Fuel Transport Co., Ltd.

The Seiei Maru is owned by Nuclear Fuel Transport Co., Ltd.
The Seiei Maru is to arrive with this shipment at the Port of Mutsu Ogawara on Friday, February 7, 2025.
This is the final shipment of low-level radioactive waste for FY2024.
Concrete plans for shipments in FY2025 are to be prepared in cooperation with the relevant parties and will be announced by the end of this fiscal year.
