TMPA HONORS TEXAS TELECOMMUNICATORS DURING NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK, APRIL 14-20, 2024

Austin, Texas - The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) proudly joins the nation in celebrating National Telecommunicators Week, a tradition that began in 1981 and is observed from April 14 to April 20 each year. This annual recognition is an opportunity to

express gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated telecommunicators who play a vital role in safeguarding our communities.

Telecommunicators, also known as Dispatchers, serve as the first line of response during emergencies, providing essential assistance and support to distressed individuals. For instance, they are the ones who stay on the line with a scared child until help arrives, or who guide a panicked caller through CPR instructions. Their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts ensure that help reaches those in need swiftly and efficiently.

TMPA President Chris Ceballos underscores the significance of acknowledging the invaluable contributions of Texas telecommunicators, referring to them as "the calm voices in the dark, the heroes behind the scenes." He further adds, "Our telecommunicators work diligently day in and day out, often in high-stress situations, to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities. Their dedication and professionalism deserve our utmost recognition and appreciation." Throughout National Telecommunicators Week, TMPA urges Texans to actively participate in expressing gratitude to these unsung heroes. Your role in acknowledging their service is crucial, as it reinforces their commitment to public safety and unwavering dedication to duty.
