The Joint Commission on Racial Justice and Equity (JCRJE) has released its 2023 Annual Report, which will update the community on its work and provide strategies for the current year.

In addition to a report from the Steering Commi@ee and reflectons from Peoria Mayor Rita Ali and Peoria County Board Chairperson James C. Dillon, each of JCRJE's eight workgroups provided an overview of its work in 2023 and plans underway for 2024.

This report builds on the 2022 Annual Report, which established a data-driven baseline for racial disparities in the City and County of Peoria. Since its release, JCRJE has moved beyond data gathering to actively developing strategies to reduce racial inequities in our community. Most of these strategies are long-term in nature and will involve a diverse range of community partners.

Copies of the 2023 Annual Report are available for pickup in the lobby at Peoria City Hall, located at 419 Fulton Street in Downtown Peoria.

JCRJE Commissioners are scheduled to present the 2023 Annual Report to the Peoria City Council and Peoria County Board in late May.
