SoftBank Corp.’s Vision to Build Infrastructure for an Unwired Society with 6G

While the latest global wireless standard 5G is still continuing to see adoption, 6G is not too far away on the horizon. But what is 6G? And how might it change the way we communicate and live?

When the term 6G comes up, many might associate it with advanced communication technologies. SoftBank Corp.'s (TOKYO: 9434) Research Institute of Advanced Technology, however, is taking a wider view.

While communication technology is certainly important, SoftBank believes that with 6G the goal will be not just to exchange data, but to realize services and experiences that result from it. SoftBank also thinks 6G will be one of the necessary elements to push boundaries and deliver experiences tailored to future lifestyles. SoftBank is calling this future digital society an "Unwired Society."
