TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Pedestrian Ramp Closure on Wisner Boulevard Bridge

NEW ORLEANS - Effective immediately, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' contractor Renegade, formally known as Impetus Infrastructure, LLC, will restrict pedestrian access on the Wisner Boulevard bridge. Pedestrians and bikers are asked to use the following detour: Zachary Taylor Drive > Henry Thomas Drive > Enrique Alvarez Drive > Collin Diboll Circle > Lelong Drive > Esplanade Avenue.

This temporary closure is necessary to facilitate a full bridge replacement, resurface the street entirely and install streetscape improvements, such as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections. Restrictions will remain in effect for approximately eight months.

The $6 million DeSaix Boulevard (Bayou St. John Bridge) project was designed by Neel-Schaffer, Inc. and is being constructed by Impetus Construction, LLC. The scope of work for this project varies block-by-block, and the contractor will generally work from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by Winter of 2025, weather permitting.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 186 projects with an estimated value of $765 million. Today, 55 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $781 million.
