Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry win the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry rallied down the stretch and won the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans after forcing an exciting playoff with runners-up Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer. The win marked McIlroy's 25th PGA TOUR victory and Lowry's first win since his 2022 PGA Championship.

The pair battled several days of tricky winds and a competitive field, with several teams in contention during the final round, before prevailing with a par on the first hole of the playoff and a final score of 25-under.

Long-time friends who showed strong chemistry and teamwork over the course of the tournament, the Irish duo hinted at returning to the Zurich Classic-the PGA TOUR's only team event-next year to defend their title.

Immediately after the event, Zurich North America CEO Kristof Terryn congratulated the Classic champions at host course TPC Louisiana. In addition to their share of the record $8.9 million purse, the pair also received the tournament's Waterford crystal fleur-de-lis trophy and championship belts.

Beyond showcasing a field of world-class golfers, the tournament also makes a significant charitable impact. Since 2005, the Zurich Classic, in partnership with the Fore!Kids Foundation, has raised more than $30 million for New Orleans charities, supporting 200,000 children annually, and has generated approximately $645 million in economic activity for the New Orleans community.
